Introduction
Maybe you've been wanting to try tapestry weaving but don't know where to start, or you've given it a whirl but the results weren't what you expected. Often, it's just a matter of getting the basics down, and once you've done that, you can start expanding into more of what you'd hoped you could weave.
In this 5- week course, students will learn the requisite skills for taking their tapestry weaving ideas to the next level. Skills covered will include: warping a frame loom, choosing warp and weft yarn, discussion of headers and choosing one; creation of a sampler that will include most if not all of the following: horizontal and vertical lines, spots, weaving shapes like squares, rectangles and triangles, and random shapes and curves. Students will also learn various outlining methods, shading, and special techniques to create unusual effects.
This will be an immediately hands-on class with a specific set of skills taught each evening that participants can experiment with and develop for the remainder of class.
