Introduction

Would you like to try a new structure, fiber, or style of weaving with an experienced mentor to guide you through any tricky spots? Or weave a project that’s wider or uses more shafts than your current loom can support? Or do you love the community and camaraderie of weaving together with other fiber enthusiasts? Our Further Explorations class may be the perfect answer.

Students will choose their own project. They should be comfortable with the basics of warping and weaving, but will have guidance on aspects that are new to them and help with any glitches they encounter in their project. Weekly brief presentations will focus on gaining a greater understanding of weave structures and their possibilities, as well as tips for improving the ease and efficiency of weaving.

The instructor will be available to consult on your project planning questions via email or phone once you are registered. Students should have decided on their project, purchased their yarn, and wound their warp prior to the second class. In addition to class times, students should plan to attend one or more of the Open Studios offered throughout the week in order to have sufficient weaving time. See the bottom of this description for the Open Studio schedule. If you are interested in a wider or 8-shaft loom, please register early to ensure your choice of loom.

This course is designed to meet you where you are on your weaving journey and to expand your ability to more effortlessly achieve the results you want.
