Learn the basics of traditional rug hooking while creating a small project. The focus of this class will be technique (hands on hooking and lots of it). A practice kit will be provided which will include a primitive size hook, backing and transfer material along with some simple patterns you can use. We will work with primitive ¼” inch wide wool strips. You will learn about the types of rug designs, techniques, wool quantity, cuts of wool, backings, color planning, examples of as-is and dyed wools and how to use them within your design, finishing techniques, as well as tools and materials that are available. Students will need to purchase wool for their project. Additional hooking supplies and some patterns will be available for purchase during class.
