Materials to be purchased and provided by student. Recommendations from teacher below:
Drawing Supplies:
Sketch pad (size: your choice), 2B and 4B pencil, eraser & sharpener
Paint Colors: The quality of paint that you choose will make a big difference. We recommend going with the best you can afford. Keep in mind however, that it takes a lot of practice before you’ll be making masterpieces. So, it’s not the end of the world to have budget materials in the beginning. Do not use Acrylic folk/craft paints however.
Titanium White
Alizarine Crimson or Quinacridone Magenta (a cooler, deep pinkish red)
Cadmium Red Medium (a warm orange-red)
Cadmium Yellow Medium (a warm golden color)
Cadmium Yello Light or Pale (a cooler lemon yellow)
Burnt Umber
Sap Green
Viridian Green or Pthalo Green

Recommended size: 11 x 14 or larger
Recommended for Acrylics: Strathmore 300 Mixed Media Pad or Strathmore 400 Series Acrylic Pad (optional)
Supplies:
12x 16 Disposable Paper Palette Pad (recommend: Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette Seal)
Metal Palette Knife (the white plastic ones are useless) Recommended: Blick Painting Knife, 5/8” x 2 7/8”, Traditional, Style 50
Rags and/or paper towels
By medium:
If painting with acrylics: Liquitex Medium, Slow-Dri Retarder and the sponge insert for the Masterson Palette, large jars (i.e. yogurt containers)
