Introduction
Interested in woodworking and looking for a way to get started? This introductory course is designed to give beginner students the basics in using hand tools and shop machinery to design and make a beautiful one of a kind project.
During the 4 sessions of this course, students will create a one of a kind jewelry box. Students will begin with rough sawn lumber from the lumber yard, take it all through the milling process, and create a polished final product. Students will be taught the safe and proper use of tools necessary in the milling process, and the skills associated with it.
Students will learn the safe operation and proper use of:
-Chop Saw
-Band Saw
-Jointer
-Planer
-Table Saw (crosscuts, dado cuts, rip cuts)
-Sand Paper
-Orbital Sander
-Bench Chisels
-Wood Glue and Clamps
-Development and Implementation of basic wood milling skills
