Are you looking for a low commitment one day workshop that will teach you a life-long skill? In this workshop, students learn that carving a spoon from a tree branch is a meditation on form and function. Participants will learn how to identify and harvest a locally sourced species of green wood. Then, using special tools, that you get to keep, students learn about Swedish carving techniques to form and shape a sturdy cooking utensil. The instructor will also cover valuable information about safety, sharpening, and tool maintenance. At the end of the day, students will go home with a cherished one of a kind hand-made object that will last a lifetime. Side effects may include seeing spoons in every branch.
