Introduction

Summertime was made for movie monsters, local legends, and sightings of unexplained creatures. We’ll recreate those characters in clay form, as small figures and bas-relief sculptures. Students will learn a variety of hand-building techniques such as coil building, pinch pottery, and slab-building. We’ll work on ways to simulate fur, scales, feathers, smoothness and ooziness, and use glazes to make our creatures shine. We’ll discuss if and when teeth are necessary, appendage placement, and how many eyeballs are too many eyeballs. Come join us for fun-filled mornings and let your imagination run wild!

This is a 6 week class, open to students ages 7-11.
