Introduction
Capture the feeling of light, air and atmosphere in your watercolors during this incredible plein air watercolor experience for artists of all levels. Scenic locations in Shelburne, Vermont and the surrounding areas will provide the inspiration for our subjects.
Join one of the nation’s top watercolorists, Joel Popadics, on a Plein air painting tour of Shelburne and Charlotte, Vermont. Over the course of this 4-day workshop, students will be shown master-level watercolor techniques, through the exploration of stunning localities, such as Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, the Lake Champlain Yacht Club and more.
In this workshop Joel will demonstrate how to get the elusive feeling of light and air through his painting demonstrations. Topics will vary from painting trees, buildings, sail boats, plants, cows and other subjects. Following the demonstration, you will have the opportunity to paint and apply the concepts presented. Methods for creating effective clouds and skies will be explored, as well as how to mix a natural looking green. You’ll also learn how to achieve spatial depth using a prismatic color approach. Individual instruction will be provided throughout the day.
This workshop is in partnership with Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, Philo Ridge Farm, the Lake Champlain Yacht Club and more.
