Introduction
Before the development of weaving as we understand it today, weft twining was a way to create a variety of textiles and vessels without using a loom. It is possible to create colorful patterns and complex forms using only a twining frame and your hands.
In this class, participants will learn how to create a twined bag using tools and materials provided by the instructor. The workshop takes place over two consecutive Saturdays so that students will have time to work on their projects between sessions. During the workshop we’ll take a look at some of the many inspiring forms of twining created by people all over the world. At the end of the workshop, students can take their twining frames home with them to create more projects.
Suitable for ages 13 and up.
