Introduction

Block printing is an ancient art form that continues to inform and inspire modern art and design today. By carving design into a rubber block and then using the block as the template for the print, we can adorn plain or patterned fabrics with one of a kind and meaningful images.

Do you have fabric or clothing items that could use an updating but you don't know where to begin? Block printing could be for you! In this class, you will create a simple design that works well as a block print, carve your design into the block, and use your block to print your design on fabric.

There will be fabric available to experiment on, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
