Introduction
The term "Nocturne" (Night Painting) was first applied to painting by the American Tonalist painter, James McNeil Whistler. His use of color, tone, and an obscured subject, launched an entirely new approach to oil painting.
This 3-session workshop will breakdown the techniques used by Whistler and other nocturne artists. The workshop will begin with 1-session of surface preparation, and an overview of techniques and palette options. The following session of "En Plein Air" at night, aligns with the Full Moon, and will allow students to put what they've learned into practice, painting the evening sunset. The final session will allow for "En Plein Air". All experience levels welcome.
This is a 3-session workshop.
