Introduction
The craft of growing, harvesting and dying with indigo has been practiced for thousands of years in Japan. Indigo has antibacterial function and is a natural bug repellent and of course is a stunning, brilliant, lustrous color.
Beginning in late spring Shelburne Craft will plant and raise indigo! We are lucky to have the support of Red Wagon who will germinate starts for us. Should it be a rough season for indigo we have a back up plan to make sure our indigo dying party is successful.
This party will be the culmination of the harvest of the indigo. Each participant will leave with a scarf that they have dyed.
