Introduction
Often referred to as the “Father of Modern Art”, Paul Cezanne’s masterful use of color and
technique will be our framework to explore the art of painting with oils. Examples of his
works will be the foundation of a study of color theory, oil paint mixing and application, and
composition. Students will make large sized copies of their choice of Cezanne paintings and
then use what they have learned to create original works inspired by Cezanne. This will also
give us a chance to explore the history of art from Impressionism to Modernism.
This class does not meet 10/17.
