Introduction
Transforming your work from good work to extraordinary work takes time, practice and
consideration of the design elements. Through demonstrations that begin on the wheel
addressing composition of form, students can develop a working process that brings basic
forms to a new level. Then, examining the form to determine appropriate surface
treatment, we continue to explore how the design elements and principles influence our
choices. I’ll demonstrate using slips and surface techniques in a variety of ways from to
develop ideas about individualizing your surface treatments. There will be time for hands
on practice, so come prepared with a few leather-hard pieces or tiles in whatever clay you
use.
