Introduction
Raku is a traditional Japanese firing technique where pots are taken out of the kiln at high temperature and buried in sawdust to reduce. The resulting pots can be unpredictably chaotic and colorful.
Pieces should be bisque fired and glazed with an appropriate raku glaze (in the buckets under the bisque shelf) 24 hours before we start the kiln. Raku is an exciting, but must be completed with care in avoid injury; please wear long pants and covered shoes, as well as appropriate clothing for the weather.
