This is a class for advanced beginner/intermediate knitters who are looking to take their knitting to the next level. Over the course of this 4- week class, we will go step by step through the process of knitting your first sweater – from how to choose the right size to how to put the finishing touches on your garment. Students will have the opportunity to choose from a few different beginner-friendly sweater patterns (some cardigans and some pullovers, for either a baby, child or adult) which all have a seamless top-down construction.
§ Session 1 – Checking gauge, measuring yourself, choosing the right size, and getting started.
§ Session 2 – separating the sleeves from the body
§ Session 3 – working the body and sleeves, checking the fit as you knit.
§ Session 4 – Discussing blocking and finishing techniques (not all students may have finished their entire sweater by this point, but we will discuss all the necessary finishing techniques so you’ll be prepared)
Students should be able to knit between classes for 2-4 hours per week.
