Introduction
For students who have expressed an interest in cloth and yarn, fabric and how clothing is made, Floor Loom Weaving is designed for you. In this introductory weaving class, you will learn to make an easy warp and dress a loom, and then experience the pleasure of watching useful and colorful cloth grow with every pass of the shuttle. Soon you will know the difference between plain weave and twill and, will see how a simple change of treadling or weft yarn can transform the cloth you make. You will never look at cloth the same way again!
Weaving students will be brought through each step in this class under the guidance of weaver and teacher Lausanne Allen, and will go home with as much cloth as you can weave in this 6- week class, ready to hang on the wall or sew into useful and memorable items: bags, pillows, a cell phone case or even patches for your favorite clothing! If you’re curious about the history of textiles, Lausanne will be happy to provide a suitable introduction to this fascinating subject.
