Introduction
In this Multicultural Art class, students will discuss and explore the topics of diversity, racism and inclusion. Students will be introduced to non-western religions and art making techniques followed by art projects and discussions to share our thoughts and ideas.
In this course, students will learn about ancient and contemporary art in Africa, East, South Asia, and the Middle East and will be introduced to Islamic and Buddhism art and their basic theories. The purpose of this class is to encourage students to see and appreciate the diversity and beauty of different traditions in the world.
This course is open to students ages 9-12.
This course is donation based, tuition free, with support from the Shelburne Social Services Committee. Students will pay only for their materials. (priority registration is given to new students, as it is a tuition free offering and we aim to give as many children an opportunity to attend as possible) Please donate to Multicultural Program at Shelburne Craft School if possible in order to offer free classes to students and families in need.
This is a 6 session, in-person course. There will be no class on Oct. 11th
