Interested in woodworking and looking for a way to get started? This introductory course is designed to give beginner students the basics in using hand tools and shop machinery to design and make a beautiful, one-of-a-kind project.
During the 4 sessions of this course, students will create a keepsake or jewelry box. Students will begin with rough sawn lumber from the lumber yard, take it through the milling process, and create a polished final product. Students will be taught the safe and proper use of tools necessary in the milling process, and the skills associated with it.
Students will learn the safe operation and proper use of:
-Table Saw (crosscuts, dado cuts, rip cuts)
-Wood Glue and Clamps
-Development and Implementation of basic wood milling skills
