Introduction
Do you want to learn how to make beautiful and useful hand carved cooking utensils? In this course students will be introduced to traditional Scandinavian design and carving techniques to make spoons, spatulas, and butter knives. This course will utilize tools such as carving knives, crooked knives, gouges, coping saws, and hatchets. Carving is a meditation on form and function and students will learn to intuitively see how a branch of green wood can transform into a loving object. Each session will begin in our historic woodshop and will include demonstrations and one on one guidance. Students get to take home a hook and carving knife. This course also pairs well with Wood 112 or Wood 113.
