To our community members, students, supporters, teachers & donors:
First and foremost, thank you for your patience as we have worked through the details of this pandemic closure, class cancellations, constantly changing guidance, etc. It is especially painful for us to not be able to offer the comfort and support of an in-person, hands-on, community-based creative space, but we understand the importance of protecting the health of our community and front line workers.
We are missing having our community come through our doors on a daily basis and hope that you are staying safe and healthy. We look forward to serving you again when it is safe to re-open. For now, our operations are suspended and our doors are closed--but our hearts are with our community. We truly hope you are finding health, calm and creativity now more than ever.
This pandemic has certainly generated alarm among artists, makers, teachers and art administrators, who fear their fields will be permanently impacted. The long term consequences on our creative sector and local economy will be great. But we'd like to assure you that we will be here to welcome you back and continue serving our mission. The Craft School's teachers and staff will be here to provide excellent hands-on education and help everyone experience the joys of making on the other side of this. Our community has shown altruism, compassion and generosity during this time, for which we are so thankful. We cannot wait to safely gather together at the campus again and continue offering vibrant education in art and artisanal crafts.
Along with so many non-profit organizations and businesses, this is an extremely difficult moment. The Craft School is supported mainly by tuition, so the financial impact of closing and cancelling our classes has been significant, but we are committed to weathering this storm and coming back stronger than ever.
For the health and safety of our community, and with guidance from the State, our campus is closed until further notice. All classes, events, and open studio hours prior to June 1, 2020, have been postponed or canceled.
For currently enrolled students, we will reach out individually to offer make ups/credits, refunds and we will keep in touch via email, our newsletter, website and social media accounts as best we can. In the meantime, stay healthy and creative and let us know if there is anything the Craft School can do to support you.
In this together, sending our best,
Claire, Jeff, Ryan, Rik, all the Craft School Staff, Teachers & Board of Directors
